Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg and Director Peter Berg have been cranking out some pretty decent films over the past years including Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, Patriot’s Day and most recently Mile 22. Now the duo are hitting Netflix for a new crime drama named Spenser Confidential based on the novel Wonderland by Ace Atkins.

Wahlberg teams with Winston Duke for the new thriller which has the following synopsis: In SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL – an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it — just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good. But first he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with a promising amateur. That’s Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was. When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice.
Wahlberg premiered the trailer on Ellen and talked about how the movie is based on a childhood favorite show Spenser: For Hire. The book actually contains 48 novels altogether and Wahlberg is hoping to do more based on the character.
Also starring are Colleen Camp, Marc Maron, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Gaston and rapper Post Malone.
Spenser Confidential hits Netflix on March 6th. Check out the new trailer below!
