Sony Pushes Vin Diesel’s BLOODSHOT to March 2020

Sony Pictures announced today that Vin Diesel’s latest bid for an action franchise AKA Bloodshot will be vacating it’s February 21st original release date and will now debut in theaters on a March 13th, 2020. This move is set up to have the film open up with less competition then before.

Bloodshot’s original date would have put it at war with Warner Bros. and DC’s BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMACIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) which hits on February 7th as well as Sonic The Hedgehog which opens up on Valentines Day. Bloodshot’s new date will now put it up against only a faith based film called I Still Believe as well as the family action/comedy I Spy which stars Dave Bautista.

Helmed by Dave Wilson, Bloodshot tells the story of Ray Garrison who is a Marine who is killed along with his wife only to be resurrected by scientists. Garrison is “Enhanced with nanotechnology, as he becomes the superhuman, biotech killing machine – Bloodshot. As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his former life. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of the facility hellbent on revenge, only to discover that there’s more to the conspiracy than he originally thought.”

The film has a pretty good cast to accompany Diesel which includes Eliza Gonzalez (BABY DRIVER), Sam Heughan (OUTLANDER), Talulah Riley (WESTWORLD), Alex Hernandez (HEMLOCK GROVE), Toby Kebbell (KONG: SKULL ISLAND), Lamorne Morris (NEW GIRL), and Guy Pearce (DISTURBING THE PEACE).

Valiant Comics is hoping that the film is a success as they are looking to adapt their other comic book properties to the big screen like Faith, Archer & Armstrong, Quantum and Woody, Harbinger, X-O Manowar, and Ninjak. Paramount did acquire Harbinger earlier this year which has put a wrinkle in Sony’s plans for a shared universe.

Bloodshot will now unleash in theaters on March 13th so check out the awesome looking domestic and international trailers that dropped a while back!
