By: John M Jerva

To tell you the truth, I forget about a lot of films after the initial announcements because so much time elapses before we hear any major news and now the MMA feature Bruised which has Halle Berry starring in and directing is finally set to get underway in Newark, NJ this week.

Berry, who took over for Blake Lively who left the project, with then announced director Nick Cassavetes also departing, is making her directorial debut with this one and she posted on Instagram images of her getting into fighting shape and also the production start announcement which you can see below.

The awesome folks over at 87Eleven Action Design is handling the film’s fisticuffs so expect some maximum effort with the fight sequences. Berry was electric in the recent John Wick: Chapter 3 and her action scenes delivered so I’m anxiously awaiting this one.

The official synopsis reads as follows: Jackie “Justice”, a disgraced MMA fighter who has failed at the one thing she’s ever been good at fighting. When 6-year-old Manny, the son she walked out on years ago, returns to her doorstep, Jackie has to conquer her own demons, face one of the fiercest rising stars of the MMA world, and ultimately fight to become the mother this kid deserves.

With production amping up expect more news to start flowing so keep it locked and loaded right here for more!
