SNAKE-EYES: Haruka Abe Joins the G.I. JOE Spin-Off in a Mystery Role!

As production looms closer for the anticipated G.I. Joe spin-off centered on iconic character Snake-Eyes, more casting news hit today courtesy of The Wrap that dropped the news that actress Haruka Abe has joined the film in a role that us being kept under wraps for now.

Abe who is best known for She’s Just a Shadow which is out now as well as the upcoming BBC One series Girl/Haji. Hearing that her role is a secret leads me to believe that she might be playing Jax who is known from the comics as one of Snake’s closest allies but we shall see.

The Snake-Eyes spin-off “centers On the Silent Ninja Commando’s origins where he tries to become a member of the Arashikage Clan, a ninja clan based in Japan. According to “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra: The Essential Guide,” the Arashikage worked as shadowy assassins for generations, using deception to earn their keep as ninjas, as well as developing a reputation for being able to perform impossible tasks.”

Abe joins previously announced cast members Henry Golding who will be playing the title role of the popular Joe character as well as Warriors lead Andrew Koji who will be playing Snake’s Arashakagi Blood Brother Storm Shadow. The biggest addition to the film has certainly been international action sensation Iko Uwais (The Raid, Triple Threat) who will be taking on the role of The Hard Master who is the man responsible for training Snake and Storm Shadow. Úrsula Corberó was also recently announced as wining the part of The Baroness.

Snake-Eyes is one of two Joe movies being developed with the other one being the ensemble G.I. Joe pic tentatively titled Ever Vigilant. The Snake-Eyes origin film already has a release date set for October 16th, 2020.

On a Snake-Eyes related exclusive extra, I’m currently in New York for the New York Comic Con and I stopped in the legendary Midtown Comics today and saw what quite possibly could be the most awesome Snake-Eyes statue ever. It even comes with Snake’s trusty wolf 🐺 companion Timber. Check it out below and if you want it, it’s only 700 bucks lol but boy would it look beautiful in my Action-Flix office 😆. You had to have seen it in person to truly appreciate how kick ass it was.
