SAMARITAN: Stallone Set to Star in the New and Dark Take on the Superhero Genre!

Sylvester Stallone is currently obliterating drug cartel members as his supposed last stand as John J. Rambo is currently playing in theaters everywhere. Looking toward the future, Deadline is bringing the word that he will star in a new and dark superhero film titled Samaritan which will be helmed by Overlord director Julius Avery.

The news of this project was actually announced last October and I had reported it on my old site but it looks like the film is finally gaining some traction.

Per Deadline: “Based on an original idea, the thriller centers on young boy who is out to discover if a mythic superhero, who vanished 20 years earlier following a tragic event, is still alive.

“Sly is a hero of mine, I’m incredibly thrilled to be working with such an iconic actor on this very special project with Balboa Productions and MGM,” Avery said.

Screenwriter is Escape Room‘s Bragi F. Schut. Stallone and Balboa Productions partner Braden Aftergood will produce the film as the first project for their company. Schut will serve as an executive producer.“

Stallone, who is now 73, looks to be keeping himself pretty busy these days as he has also proclaimed that he is working on the long awaited fourth Expendables film and has also mentioned that he would seriously consider revisiting Rocky and Rambo again if the stars lined up.

Samaritan sounds like a pretty interesting film for the Hollywood icon and it certainly would show him in a new light to audiences. I’m intrigued to say the least.

The film is set to begin production next year so hopefully we will get more 411 on this movie in the near future. Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to drop and check out my exclusive review of Rambo: Last Blood right here!
