Well this didn’t take long for the rumors to start flying around about the next phase of the MCU. The first juicy piece of gossip is that Mahershala Ali, who was introduced as the new Blade at last weekend’s SDCC, will make his debut earlier than expected.
Following a report in Screen Rant, there are rumblings that Blade will be introduced in the sequel Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Per the report, they cite a comment that Marvel head Kevin Feige made earlier last week which might suggest that will be the case for the Daywalker.
Feige was quoted as saying:
“We have, for years, wanted to find a new way into Blade, we love that character. We love that world. Now, with Doctor Strange and the supernatural elements coming into the MCU, it felt like we could definitely start exploring that…”
This all makes perfect sense seeing that Feige announced that the sequel would be the first all out horror film of the MCU. Plus horror maestro Scott Derrickson, who is best known fo such horror pics as The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, Sinister And Deliver Us From Evil will be directing this one.
In regards to the new film, Derrickson three his opinions in and talked about the upcoming Phase IV Sequel.
“What excites me about Doctor Strange is what made him great in the comics; that he doesn’t fight villains from this earth, or even from this universe, but from the multiverse and other dimensions, so you get into all kinds of psychedelic weirdness, which this movie is going to. But when I came and talked to (producer Kevin Feige) about doing a sequel, I said, ‘I don’t want to do just another sequel to do a sequel, if I’m gonna do it it has to go into the territory that drew me into the Doctor Strange comics in the first place, which is how they dipped into the gothic and the horror and the horrific, and we’re gonna make the first scary MCU film.”
I had already said last weekend in my article that the MCU would probably introduce Ali’s Blade sooner rather than later so this one might be true. I usually don’t write about rumors but I’m a huge Blade fan and can not wait to see how Marvel Studios handles the Daywalker.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness won’t be upon us until May 7th, 2021 so we have a long wait to see if this transpires. Keep it locked and loaded right for more details about the MCU’s Blade!
