Update: In another classy move, Mahershala Ali has responded to Snipes heartfelt message that came out today and Ali did it with style posting an image of Snipes from the movie and you can check it out below!

One of the biggest surprises to come out of last weekend’s SDCC was that two time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali was the MCU’s New Blade. This put to rest speculation that Wesley Snipes might return to his role he made famous in the previous three films with New Line Cinema. 

Snipes showed off what a class act he was today by submitting an official statement on the matter to ComicBook.com. In the statement, Snipes showed nothing but support and admiration for Ali. Check out Snipes’ comments below.

Snipes has been vocal about saying that he was in discussions with Marvel Studios about returning to the iconic role since 2015 but unfortunately for the actor, Marvel went in a different direction. Hopefully Marvel will be classy and still make Snipes a part of the new venture in some other capacity. I think a mentor role to Ali’s Blade would be awesome myself.

At the present, there aren’t any plans for Ali to make his debut as Blade until Phase V but Marvel head Kevin Feige said things can always change. Stay tuned and keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come on the MCU’s future plans for the Daywalker and more!
