Clancy Brown Joins Mel Gibson and Charlie Hunnam for the Action-Thriller WALDO

Production is going to be revving up for the cop action-thriller Waldo which will team Mel Gibson with Charlie Hunnam in a tale of a disgraced cop given another shot at redemption. As cameras are getting ready to roll, major casting additions have been mentioned for the film and just yesterday it was revealed that Clancy Brown of Highlander and Starship Troopers fame has been added to the roster.

The news comes via Deadline just after it was announced that Dominic Monaghan, best k nown for The Lord Of The Rings will be in the film as well. The thriller is being helmed by Tim Kirkby and it also stars  Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver).

The plot per Deadline: “Waldo introduces a new hero in disgraced former LAPD detective Charlie Waldo (Hunnam), currently living the life of a minimalist in the woods. His quiet life comes to a startling halt when he is roped back into working as a private eye to investigate the murder of an eccentric TV star’s wife.”

Brown will play the role of plain clothes detective Big Jim Cuppy and he has also been recently seen on Netflix’s Daredevil while Gibson has been keeping himself pretty busy as he will be seen in this year’s Boss Level with Frank Grillo. He has aslo signed on for the action film War Pigs with Colin Farrell and also enlited to write and helm a remake of The Wild Bunch. Hunnam was just seen in Netflix’s Triple Frontier starring alongside Ben Affleck and Oscar Isaac.

Shoting for Waldo is starting soon and the film will probably be released sometimne next year. Stay tuned.
