Well for better or for worse, the news came down today that Robert Pattinson has been officially cast in Director Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN and the internet is abuzz with fans either celebrating or crying. 
News leaked earlier a few weeks ago that the TWILIGHT star was a definite favorite for the role and it came down between him and another English actor in Nicholas Hoult who has played Beast in the current crop of X-MEN films. It is being mentioned that Warner Bros. liked both men but it eventually came down to Reeves himself liking Pattinson and there you have it.
The new Batman film is the first of a planned trilogy that supposedly won’t be connected to the DCEU and will have a noirish flair to it while focusing on Batman’s detective skills. Reeves will helm the film and production is said to be on this fall with the film hitting theaters on June 25th, 2021. With the main role cast, more casting news should drop very soon.
As I’ve said in the past, I will reserve judgment until I see proper footage of Pattinson in full Batman mode.
