Remember the time back in the 60’s when the FBI and the mob united to stop crime and injustice? Yeah, most people don’t which is why the new film By Any Means looks flat out interesting. It also helps that it features two prominent Hollywood A listers in Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen so that does help as well. this one isn’t an all-out action pic, but it definitely looks to have some brutal beats in it so check out the new footage below!
Set in Mississippi in 1966, By Any Means follows a volatile partnership between a hardened mafia hitman and a young Black FBI agent as they are forced into an uneasy alliance to track down those responsible for the killing of civil rights leaders — uncovering a conspiracy that tests the limits of justice, loyalty, and survival.
Elegance Bratton (The Inspection), love that name BTW, helms the pic from a script penned by Sascha Penn (Power Book III: Raising Kanan). The supporting cast is elite as well with Josh Lucas, David Strathairn, and Giancarlo Esposito rounding out the supporting players.
TRAILER REACTION: By Any Means looks to take the classic 80’s film Mississippi Burning which starred two other heavyweights at the time in Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe and looks to put a very hard hitting, knee bashing brutal vibe to it. The former was also based on the true to life events. Wahlberg looks to be having one hell of a time chewing up the scenery with a rather large nose and Abdul-Matteen always brings the gravely gravitas to any role he does. This one looks visceral, unflinching and loaded with ample amounts of blunt force trauma for a violently unstable good time.
