Taking its cue from John Woo’s Silent Night starring Joel Kinnaman which featured all visual action and no words, Reacher star Alan Ritchson is delivering punishment in his newest flick called Motor City. Hailing from director Potsy Ponciroli, Ritchson is going to prove that words are not needed when the action hits this hard and fans of the genre are about to get their fill. Check out the blistering adrenaline laced carnage in the new trailer below!
Official Synopsis: In 1970s Detroit a working-class romantic is framed by a ruthless gangster after falling for his girlfriend. After years in prison, he returns with only one mission: revenge. With operatic scale, MOTOR CITY unleashes a barrage of brutal action, magnetic performances, and striking imagery, fueled by a thunderous rock score, precision-crafted action, and immersive sound design to create a visceral, propulsive spectacle built to electrify audiences this summer.
Ritchson stars alongside an exceptional supporting cast that includes Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, Ben Foster and Ben McKenzie. Ponciroli helms the ambitious film from a script by Chad St. John.
TRAILER REACTION for Motor City reveals that this is just what the Dr. ordered and Ritchson is in his brutal and most unforgiving element here. The trailer strikes a Serpico vibe and aims to pay homage to the crime classics of the 70’s The visuals and cinematography are sensational, and the action looks grounded, pure and savage with a last shot that is memorable with Ritchson flying off the hood of a car as he unloads with a shotgun. This looks to be unadulterated action bliss with Ritchson proving once again that he is the new face of action cinema.
The film looks to be Ritchson’s most visceral and unflinching role to date and with the star already establishing action star cred with his performances in Fast X, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and the aforementioned Reacher series, it will definitely be his most challenging role to date navigating a bleak, gritty and grimy 1970’s Detroit full of crime and unforgiving violence. We’ve seen this type of non-speaking, action driven film before with the aforementioned Silent Night starring Joel Kinnaman being the most prolific one to hit in recent years.
