Martial arts action megastar Michael Jai White is trading punchlines with his fists and feet for his latest action-comedy Special Op: Rent-A-Cop. White has been a staple in action for years now, but fans also know that the versatile actor has also dabbled in comedy as well as other dramas just the same. This time, he’s combining a few as he takes on MMA hall of famer Chuck Lidell and Hollywood icon Billy Zane in a tale about a bad ass special ops soldier who is looking to survive after his career in the military is over. Unfortunately, he’s about to discover that senior citizens are a lot more dangerous than any insurgent he has ever faced. Check out the new trailer and poster below!
Official Synopsis: After a career-ending injury, a former Special Forces operative takes a low-stakes security job escorting a lively group of seniors to Atlantic City. But what begins as a routine assignment quickly turns into a high-octane battle when a dangerous enemy from his past resurfaces—dispatching a relentless hit squad to finish the job. Trapped on the road with civilians to protect, he must rely on his elite training, instincts, and grit to outmaneuver his attackers. Blending explosive action with sharp humor, this underdog hero’s mission becomes a fight for survival.

Also starring are Colleen Camp (Game of Death), Jim O’Heir (Bad Times at the El Royale), Dave Sheridan (Ghost World), Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead) and Jim O’Heir (Middle Man). William Butler wrote and directed the film which will see a Digital and VOD launch next week on April 14th via VMI Worldwide/Cineverse.

Trailer Reaction for White’s new film showcases a harmless and fun looking film that looks to play on White’s comedic strengths as well as his action prowess. There are ample examples of some solid action to coincide with the laughs and while this one won’t win any awards, fans might just find something to enjoy with this one. White can carry any movie he is in and teaming with genre icon Billy Zane as well as Chuck Lidell only looks to strengthen what might have been a forgettable flick. I’ll be sure to check it out when it hits.
