It’s time to enter the Octagon and go for the ground and pound with feverish ferocity as Lionsgate has dropped a second pulverizing trailer for the MMA drama Beast. Boasting a sensational cast with Daniel MacPherson leading the charge along with fellow Aussies Bren Foster, Luke Hemsworth and Hollywood legend Russell Crowe. While the first trailer focused more on the hard hitting human emotion of the film, this new one amps up the sport combat carnage and ear ripping music. Check it out below!
Official Synopsis: After years away from the cage, a once-feared MMA champion is pulled back in for the fight of his life when his younger brother is put in danger. Reuniting with the trainer who once made him a legend, he commits to one final showdown against the reigning title-holder — a brutal fighter determined to dismantle the ex-champ’s legacy in front of the world. Pushed to his breaking point, the contender’s stakes are simple: win, or lose everything he’s built. Starring Daniel MacPherson, Luke Hemsworth, and Oscar® winner Russell Crowe.
Warrior with Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton and Nick Nolte remains my all time too MMA flick but Beast looks phenomenal and MacPherson looks battle ready both physically and dramatically. Adding martial arts action sensation Bren Foster as his adversary is a chef’s kiss and I have a theory about Russell Crowe’s character but I won’t tip my hand yet. Hemsworth looks to chew up the scenery as the vile promoter and he looks like a character fans will love to hate.
The fights, which saw Foster creating look visceral mixing extreme fight choreography with more intricate ground techniques so I won’t be surprised if this one surpasses the aforementioned MMA drama. The action design most assuredly looks to click all the boxes for fans of this subgenre and it looks in your face and unflinching. We shall see.
