Nothing says Merry Christmas more than a savage and gritty survival thriller but when said film stars some Hollywood heavyweights like Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, then why not put the trailer out on the biggest holidays of the year. The new film is called Apex and Theron is in full on action hero mode as she battles Egerton in a winner takes all survival of the fittest. The new trailer is now locked and loaded for your approval (or disapproval if so, be it) so check it out below!
In Apex, “Charlize Theron stars as a rock climber and adrenaline junkie who finds out that nature isn’t the only dangerous element out to get her when she sets out on an expedition in the wild.” Egerton, who starred as a heroic TSA agent in Netflix’s Die Hard style Christmas thriller Carry-On flips the script here as he goes full on stalker psychopath who sets his sights on Theron in the wilds.
Baltasar Kormákur helms Apex from a script penned by Jeremy Robbins. Netflix figured that we would all be overloaded on holiday cheer, so I guess they decided to spice things up with a no holds barred trailer for the actioner which hits this July.
Theron is rocking it as of late as she also recently starred in Netflix’s immortal action film sequel The Old Guard 2 which wasn’t received well by many, but Theron was never a criticism of the film. Theron is a genuine full throttle Hollywood star as she is tough as nails, easy on the eyes and loaded with sick acting chops. Egerton is no slouch either as the actor has gone full adrenaline starring in The Kingsman franchise as well as the much-maligned Robin Hood which, sue me, I did enjoy.
Eric Bana also stars as Theron’s partner, and he is another one that always delivers in films and TV. To this day, his performance as Hoot in Blackhawk Down is one of the best acting jobs in a military action-thriller ever. Bana is such a versatile actor that he can go from playing The Hulk to doing a Rom-Com with the snap of his fingers.
Apex is set to hit Netflix globally on July 24th!
