Though the film itself was devoid of action for the most part, I did enjoy the Daisy Ridley led action-thriller Cleaner. There was some decent action in the final act, but I felt that Ridley’s performance is what carried the film and if she warrants it, she could thrive in the action genre.
Ridley’s latest thriller isn’t necessarily action, but it does look to contain some solid and visceral set pieces in We Bury the Dead. Ridley is facing one hell of a crisis as a zombie outbreak has taken over the world, and her character of Ava Newman must navigate a slaughterhouse of carnage and chaos with no hope in sight.
We Bury the Dead is set to hit theaters next year on January 2nd and a new trailer has rolled out serving up the foreboding vibes in this one. Check it out!
Zak Hilditch penned the script and helms We Bury The Dead with supporting cast including Brenton Thwaites, Mark Coles Smith, Kym Jackson, and Matt Whelan.
Ridley stars as Ava, “a desperate woman whose husband is missing in the aftermath of a catastrophic military experiment. Hoping to find him alive, Ava joins a “body retrieval unit,” but her search takes a chilling turn when the corpses she’s burying start showing signs of life.”

The film looks to invoke more than just zombie thrills and gore as it is also said to deal with the weighty subjects of grief and loss while battling the undead. The trailer certainly entices and for a subgenre that has been done to death (pun totally intended), We Bury the Dead looks to reinvigorate the trope with some newer incarnation of the undead and a leading lady who can bring it dramatically.
