Hot off the heels of his ultimate casting for filmmaker Steven Kolstanski’s Deathstalker reboot, action icon and martial arts legend Daniel Bernhardt is ready to jock up for his newest action pic which is Painter. From veteran stunt pro Garrett Warren who is making his directorial debut, Bernhardt joins an already stacked cast that includes Prey‘s Amber Midthunder and Walton Goggins. 20th Century Studios will be releasing the action project next year and scroll below for more intel including the plot!
Amber Midthunder stars as a young woman trained in combat from childhood who uses her skills to rescue her kidnapped father (Goggins), embarking on a perilous mission that tests her abilities to the limit.
There is no word yet on what part Bernhardt will be playing but if history serves well here, he will probably be a thorn in Midthunder’s side as she sets out on her rescue mission. I did love seeing Bernhardt play the anti-hero role in Deathstalker and it brought back memories of when he was the good guy in his films back in the day so I am hoping that he will be an ally and not an antagonist. I was quite impressed with Amber Midthunder’s action skills on Prey so I’m looking forward to seeing her do it up again for this film.
Movie powerhouse Florian Munteanu (Creed II) also stars, and this film bodes well already as John Wick scribe Derek Kolstad penned the screenplay. Hollywood icon James Cameron (Avatar, Aliens) serves as an executive producer also which heightens my curiosity for this one.
Speaking of Mr. Bernhardt, I recently had the distinct honor in speaking with him for the third time for Deathstalker and I am currently putting the finishing touches on the exclusive interview as I write this. Deathstalker hits Digital and VOD on November 11th so look out for my chat with Daniel coming soon!
