Today marks the theatrical debut for director M.J. Bassett’s redo of the sword wielding woman warrior with hair of fire Red Sonja and with it, Samuel Goldwyn Films has given us an exclusive clip from the film which looks to start a franchise for star Matilda Lutz (Revenge). Lutz is all fire and rage and proving that femme fatales have been around for centuries so check out the new clip below!

M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane, Rogue) is now the director who is in charge and the screenplay was penned by the duo of Joey Soloway (Transparent) and Tasha Huo (Netflix’s Tomb Raider anime). Robert Sheehan (The Umbrella Academy), Wallis Day (Batwoman), Martyn Ford (Those About to Die), Michael Bisping (Den of Thieves), with Phillip Winchester (Strike Back) and Trevor Eve (Waking the Dead).
Red Sonja hits theaters today for a one night engagement before hitting Digital and VOD on August 29th. I have a feeling that this film will make for a head chopping double feature good time with Daniel Bernhardt’s Deathstalker redo which hits in October. If anything Matilda Lutz looks sensational in the role that has been beloved by fans for decades and Lutz just might be the next big thing when it comes to action and adrenaline on screen!
Red Sonja slices its way into theaters this August 13th followed by a Digital Platform debut a few weeks later on August 29th!
