Whatever you, don’t fuck with his shades! Like I said yesterday on social media, think what you want from the first Mortal Kombat reboot but the marketing for the second film is a chef’s kiss, and a half as Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage has been introduced via faux posters and now a teaser for a movie that does not exist…but it should! New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. is hitting all the right moves with Urban taking on the mantle of the iconic character from the video game and now we get to see him in action in the new teaser below for one of his films titled Uncaged Fury! Cue the synth music and over the top Kung Fu theatrics as Urban’s Johnny Cage is finally unleashed in the new faux teaser along with equally faux key art!
The phenomenal Uncaged Fury teaser sees Karl Urban assuming the role of Johnny Cage and it is clear that he is having fun and loving it. To sweeten the teaser even more, we get more mentions to Cage’s past filmography arsenal with movies like Cool Hand Cage, Hard to Cage, and Rebel Without a Cage. Urban is all fists of fury here and he even gets to pummel countless goons, protect his ever so important shades and even launches into a flying jump split to avoid a rocket. We have yet to see footage of the real Mortal Kombat sequel (a trailer drops tomorrow it was confirmed) but Urban has come to play and play hard.

The above fake poster just oozes with Mission: Impossible vibes so sign me up for any real Johnny Cage movies that they want to make. Karl Urban plays fan favorite Johnny Cage who is described as the action star and martial artist who stumbles upon Mortal Kombat, a prestigious and deadly tournament pitting the best of the best that Earthrealm (Earth) has to offer as they battle against the Outworld. Cage eventually teams up with Lord Raiden, Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Jax, and Kung Lao to battle the ultimate evil in Shang Tsung who is the shape-shifting ruler of Outworld. Shang Tsung wants nothing more than to bring the Earthrealm down and unleash his minions upon humanity.
Mortal Kombat II sees Hiroyuki Sanada returning as Scorpion as well as Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), and Ludi Lin (Liu Kang) along with Mechad Brooks as Jax. Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero), Lewis Tan (Cole Young). Other new cast additions include Tati Grabrielle (Jade), Desmond Chiam (King Jerrod), Ana Thu Nguyen (Queen Sindel), and Damon Herriman (Quan Chi). New additions include Adeline Rudolph as Princess Kitana and Martyn Ford. Tati Grabrielle (Jade), Desmond Chiam (King Jerrod), Ana Thu Nguyen (Queen Sindel), and Damon Herriman (Quan Chi) also round out the new cast members for the sequel.
Original franchise film director Simon McQuoid is returning to helm once again and plot details are being kept under lock and key for now. Jeremy Slater has penned the ambitious sequel and casting news is forthcoming. Slater is best known for writing the Disney Plus/Marvel Studios limited series event Moon Knight.
The original movie was released in 2022 simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max while theaters were trying to recover from the pandemic and opened number one at the box office while ranking at the top of HBO Max’s most watched list which was truly a marvelous showing.
A new teaser poster for Mortal Kombat II has also been unveiled giving fans a look at the new symbol along with the release date for the film which is October 24, 2025! Check out the new poster below!
