Kate Beckinsale certainly has legit action cred when it comes to kicking ass on screen. Having starred as Seline in the Underworld franchise, the versatile actress has definitely taken out her fair share of enemy combatants. Beckinsale has also mixed it up adrenaline wise in other film fair like the decent thriller Jolt so when action fans think of their favorite lethal ladies, Beckinsale is definitely in the conversation. I know she’s in mine.
Well, Beckinsale is back to it with the new Amazon thriller Canary Black which hails from Taken director Pierre Morel. In the new film, Beckinsale plays an elite operative who must betray her country to save her husband, but you know she’s going to turn the table at any moment on the bad guys and deliver a little vengeance as well. A new trailer has been released which shows off Beckinsale’s action design so scroll below to sample the goods!
Official Synopsis: A top CIA operative, Avery Graves, is blackmailed by terrorists into betraying her own country to save her kidnapped husband. Cut off from her team, she turns to her underworld contacts to survive and help locate the coveted intelligence that the kidnappers want. Betrayed at every turn, she must rely on her cutting-edge training and primitive fighting skills in a deadly race to deliver a ransom that could trigger a global crisis.

The supporting cast surrounding Beckinsale is tops also including Rupert Friend, Saffron Burrows, Ben Miles, Goran Kostić, Michael Brandon, and Charles Nishikawa. The late. great Ray Stevenson also stars in one of his last roles as this film was made in late 2022 having wrapped production in January of 2023. It will certainly be bittersweet to see Stevenson on the screen again knowing that he is no longer with us.
Beckinsale’s Jolt was a rather brutal and tasty action-thriller with the star dispensing some pretty savage fight scenes, so I’m intrigued to see what she does for an encore with this one.
