Action Cinema needs heroes. I’m on a quest to promote a bevy of new age actors into action star status and on this episode of The Action Fix Podcast, I have a new contender. His name is Paul Allica, and he’s a martial arts expert, actor and filmmaker from Down Under who has appeared on screen with the best of the best the industry has to offer. From Jackie Chan Kung Fu Yoga to Wu Jing in Wolf Warrior 2 and the icon himself Arnold Schwarzenegger in Iron Mask also starring Chan, Allica has learned from the finest now he’s transforming all that valuable knowledge into a lucrative career which has seen him already directing his first feature film The Siege of Robin Hood. Infusing a classic and timeless story with Hong Kong style fight choreography, this version is an ambitious take on a tried-and-true legend and is a fun watch for fans of the genre looking for something different.
In this exclusive and no holds barred interview on The Action Fix Podcast, we chat with Allica about getting into the martial arts and the film industry as well as working with some serious action star firepower. We also get deep into his ambitious undertaking to relocate to China to make it in action and that gamble has paid off with the career path he’s on now. We also get heavy with Paul’s other main starring role in the Filipino actioner The Trigonal: Fight for Justice, where he co-stars as the antagonist culminating in a winner take all climatic fight in a ring of fire that leaves only one man standing.
