The New SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Trailer Pits Our Hero Against One Mad Dame Helen Mirren

Warner Bros and their DC properties are in total disarray and even with James Gunn stepping in to retool everything, I’m less than ecstatic for what the future holds. I mean how could you tease the return of Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel and then fire him? Way to go Gunn.

Anyway, if you’re still interested, the newest trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has dropped along with new key art and star Zachary Levi says that he’s not going anywhere so for the meantime, enjoy Levi’s return before Gunn decides to pull the plug on him.

Official Synopsis

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.

Zachary Levi is starring along with franchise newcomers Dame Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler. Returning cast members include Asher Angel as Billy Batson. Jack Dylan Grazer/Adam Brody as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen/Ross Butler as Eugene Choi, Faithe Herman/Meagan Good as Darla Dudley, Jovan Armand/D.J. Cotrona as Pedro Pena and Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield. Marta Milans and Cooper Andrews return as Rosa and Victor Vásquez, who are the foster parents of Billy and his family.

We no longer have the teased showdown between Shazam and Black Adam as The Rock has confirmed that he is no longer in Gunn’s immediate plans for the future which is a colossal mistake if you ask me. Cavill coming back only to be scrapped was the worst crime of this overhaul and after Superman appearing in the stinger scene of Black Adam only to be one huge April Fool’s joke was worse than filming Batgirl only to shelve it forever. Whatever. It’s hard to get excited anymore and I could probably start to care less for The Flash coming this summer.

Anyway, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to hit theaters on March 17th. At least for now.
