UPDATE: Not to be outdone by yesterday’s big announcement, Deadpool 3 stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman shared a new video where they spoil details from the upcoming film. Now, before you get all excited, once they start to do so, WHAM’s Wake Me Up Before You Go Go unceremoniously starts to play thus drowning out anything juicy they had to say.

(Original Post) Well this is probably the most exciting news you’ll read here today and it comes from the Merc with a Mouth himself.
Ryan Reynolds has confirmed via social media that Hugh Jackman will indeed return as Wolverine. That’s right true believers! Jackman is pulling a Brett Favre or most recently a Tom Brady and he’s coming out of retirement to don the Adamantium Claws at least one more time in the upcoming Deadpool 3 which now has a release date of September 6th, 2024. Check out Reynold’s hilarious affirmation below!
“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next Deadpool film for a good long while now. I’ve had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside. And I…I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here. And terrifying. But we did have one idea,” Reynolds stated in the video.
Then it goes on as Reynolds asks Jackman who enters eating an apple, “Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?”
“Yeah, sure, Ryan,” Jackman confirms and then proceeds to walk upstairs. What a way to announce it and it was perfect.
Reynolds and Jackman have always had playful banter back and forth over the years as they’ve made fun of each other and tried to one up the other. This is great MCU news and an excellent way to bring the X-Men into this universe.
I’ve anyways favored Jackman coming back as opposed to getting a younger actor to okay that part. That day is coming unfortunately but at least we have this to celebrate. These two together in a movie as their respective characters is pure gold and they listened to the fans who have been wanting this for years.
