While we wait for some news on Jason Statham’s Operation Rogue which was unceremoniously shelved earlier this year, we have some new details on another project of his known as The Beekeeper.

After having sales at this year’s Cannes Film Market, the David Ayer (Fury, Suicide Squad) helmed action thriller has now been acquired by MGM. The studio will handle North American distribution as well as some other territories.

Written by Kurt Wimmer (Salt), the film will follow a man’s campaign for vengeance after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as Beekeepers. According to Deadline.

Filming is set to commence later this month in the UK and casting is now being finalized. MGM is hoping to develop this project into a franchise. I’ll watch anything with The Stath in it so I’m on board.
