With the news that Road House is unfortunately getting the remake treatment, one such reimagining that I’m extremely interested in seeing is Peacock’s reboot of John Woo’s classic Gun Fu spectacle The Killer. This one may be different in the sense that Woo is directing the newer version himself so that bodes well right away for the movie.
We now know who’ll be leading the bullet fest as Deadline has dropped word the French actor Omar Sy has been tapped to lead the remake. Sy is best known for the series Lupin as well as The Intouchables and it goes without saying that this is certainly interesting casting. Sy is no stranger to brandishing firearms as you can see from the image below.

Sy was also last seen in the hit sequel Jurassic World Dominion as well as the Netflix film The Takedown.
The original film told the story of a “disillusioned assassin Ah Jong (Chow Yun-fat) accepts one last hit, in hopes of using his earnings to restore vision to the singer (Sally Yeh) he accidentally blinded.”
Plot details for the new movie are being kept under wraps but Woo is also producing along with directing duties. It’ll be interesting to see how the action sequences will be handled and who will be in charge of bringing them to life. The original film was stacked with balletic firepower induced scenes so hopefully Woo has a little magic left to do some good. Woo also has the action film Silent Night set to hit in the future which stars Joel Kinnaman.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more details to follow on The Killer as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
