If you’re anything like me, then you’re eagerly awaiting the third chapter in Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer franchise as Denzel has, along with director Antoine Fuqua, crafted a more than serviceable action franchise with Washington completely in control as former government operative Robert McCall who now helps those who are in serious trouble.

We have some casting news to throw at you today and it appears that Washington is set to be reunited with his Man on Fire co-star Dakota Fanning for the third installment. It’s been nearly 20 years since the late, great Tony Scott helmed actioner hit theaters and now audiences are all set to see the two together again.

Helmed once again by Fuqua, The Equalizer 3 is penned by Richard Wenk and as of now, plot details are being kept under wraps. We also do not know what role Fanning will be playing in the film but it will be sizable.

In Man on Fire, Washington starred as John Creasy who is a former CIA operative turned body guard who must navigate the deadly and ruthless criminal underworld when his young client Lupita Ramos (Fanning) is kidnapped.

Maybe the new film will inherit the past with Fanning playing a woman who needs McCall’s lethal expertise and skill set. Only time will tell.
