It’s a Savage & Barbaric Battle for Survival in the Extended Trailer for the Predator Franchise Film PREY! (UPDATE: TV Spot Released)

By: John M Jerva

Coming off the heels of the full trailer release a few days ago, 20th century Films and HUlU have now launched a new 30 second TV spot for the Predator franchise film Prey. Containing a little additional footage not shown in the longer trailer, you can now view it in the player below!

(Original Post) The initial teaser released a while back for HULU’s upcoming Predator franchise film Prey was just that…a tease. The movie that was made with not even a whisper of it happening came out of nowhere and after a few failed past entries in the series, this one definitely looks to take the films back to its savage roots as we are now given a period actioner and a new kind of heroine. Helmed by 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg, this time around, it’s a fierce female Commanche warrior who will do bloody combat with the intergalactic trophy hunter.

A new and even more tantalizing extended trailer has just surfaced which gives us an even bigger look at what to expect from this stripped down, bare bones entry in the blockbuster franchise. Take a look at the new footage and key art below!

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey stars Amber Midthunder (“The Ice Road,” “Roswell, New Mexico”), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Thrush (“The Journey Home”), and Julian Black Antelope (“Tribal”).

The new trailer is more enticing and even the most stalwart fan who has lost faith in this franchise will see something positive to take away from this fresh take on the franchise. Seeing the iconic laser sight appear on the forehead of the one Comanche warrior is a stroke of genius and to hear the iconic sound made by the Predator is a welcome one. Not to mention the Predator taking out a massive grizzly bear in epic fashion. This one is high on my must-see list and August 5th needs to hit now.

This one resonates with the first film when Schwarzenegger’s Dutch goes all primeval to take on the alien hunter. There’s a definite and strong vibe which might hit the nostalgia button for many.

The hunt begins as Prey unleashes on HULU courtesy of 20th Century Films on August 5th!
