Netflix Unleashes an Action Drenched and Bloody Extended Trailer for RESIDENT EVIL

By: John M Jerva

After teasing us with some tasty visuals in a couple of teaser trailers, Netflix has upped the ante with a full and action packed new trailer for its Resident Evil serious. The new footage looks rather enticing for fans of the game as well as newcomers so partake in the new promo below!

The new series based on the best selling video game franchise will tell its story through two timelines. The full synopsis is below.

In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.

Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past – about her sister, her father and herself – continue to haunt her.

From the initial viewing of this full trailer, I will admit that this latest incarnation of the game does look better then the latest film Resident Evil- Welcome to Raccoon City which was a letdown in my eyes. The trailer throws multiple visuals and insane footage at the viewer and it definitely looks to reinvent the franchise. I’ll have to watch it of course to know for sure.

Resident Evil stars Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti, and Turlough Convery.

Netflix has issued a statement about the ambitious series stating that it “brings the best of the Resident Evil Universe DNA forward – bad ass heroines, insane creatures (some new/some familiar), a battle for survival, questions about what it means to be family; Umbrella Corporation’s greed and corruption; and of course, a deep mystery to unravel.”

We’ll see how Ella Balinska stacks up to Milla Jovovich when it comes to ass kicking heroines but she certainly looks promising. The image of her blood soaked and ready for battle bodes well but we’ll have to wait and see how die hard fans relate to this version which looks to mix it up. I personally welcome any and all changes as a breath of fresh air and it’s what the franchise needs.

Resident Evil will premiere on Netflix this summer on July 14!
