CODE NAME BANSHEE: Screen Media Acquires the New Antonio Banderas Actioner for a July Release!

To say that it’s been a busy week for action bloggers has been an understatement as the Cannes Film Market has been announcing a barrage of action related titles for genre fans to sink their teeth into.

We have official word for another anticipated project which stars Antonio Banderas and it’s called Code Name Banshee. In the film, Banderas stars opposite Jaime King and Tommy Flanagan in a high-octane tale of a mercenary who must come out of hiding when a bounty is placed on his head. Take a look at the synopsis for the film which will see a day and date theatrical and VOD release this July!

Directed by Jon Keeyes and written by Matthew Rogers, the duo behind “The Survivalist,” the film follows Caleb (Banderas), a former government assassin in hiding, who resurfaces when his protégé, the equally deadly killer known as Banshee (King), discovers a bounty has been placed on Caleb’s head. Tommy Flanagan co-stars as a mercenary, Anthony, who now seeking to collect said bounty, while Catherine Davis portrays Caleb’s daughter, Hailey.

Banderas has really been cranking up the action titles in recent years having starred in The Expendables 3 as well as Security and Acts of Vengeance. Code Name Banshee loos to update the ante for Banderas and we hopefully will get a trailer soon as the film will hit select theaters as well as Digital and VOD this July.
