The hitman thriller Polar was certainly an acquired taste for some but it appears that star Mads Mikkelsen and director Jonas Akerlund are ready to give the hitman subgenre another go as the two are set to reunite.
Deadline is bringing word that the two are set to make another hitman themed actioner titled The Black Kaiser. The film is based on the Dark Horse graphic novel Polar which was was created by Victor Santos.
Per Deadline: In the story, Mikkelsen will play The Black Kaiser, the world’s most lethal hitman, who uncovers a deadly conspiracy protecting a powerful syndicate of killers and becomes their number one target.
Mikkelsen will pen the script along with Akerlund and Mikkelsen will also execute produce along with Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer. XYZ Films executive producer Martin Moszkowicz will also be involved with Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg.
XYZ Films will bring The Black Kaiser to Cannes for potential buyers and I’m sure it’ll be a hot property or as they say hot package at the event.
“We are very excited to be working with the brilliant Mads Mikkelsen and the visionary Jonas Akerlund on what will be an explosive, action-packed, funny, unexpected and little insane and emotional journey,” Bolt stated in an official capacity.
While we wait for more word on this film, check out Mikkelsen in action from his other hitman saga Polar below.
