MEMORY: Liam Neeson is an Expert but Ailing Assassin on the Run in the Trailer for His Next Action Film Output from Director Martin Campbell

By: John M Jerva

I’m not gonna lie. I was extremely disappointed in Liam Neeson’s last action film Blacklight. I even commented that I thought it was time for the star to hang up his action film shoes but I’m gonna give him another chance with his next offering titled Memory as it does look like it’s in the league of Taken.

This flick sees Neeson starring as an elite assassin who must fight for his life when he refuses to finish a job. It’s a plot that we’ve seen before but, hey, it’s Liam Neeson so he gets a pass when it comes to the action cliche department. He has onset Alzheimer’s in this one so that adds to a little originality this time around.

Check out the new trailer below!

MEMORY follows Alex Lewis (Liam Neeson), an expert assassin with a reputation for discreet precision. Caught in a moral quagmire, Alex refuses to complete a job that violates his code and must quickly hunt down and kill the people who hired him before they and FBI agent Vincent Serra (Guy Pearce) find him first. Alex is built for revenge but, with a memory that is beginning to falter, he is forced to question his every action, blurring the line between right and wrong.

Guy Pearce, Monica Bellucci, Taj Atwal, Natalie Anderson, and Ray Fearon also stars in the movie which is a remake of the Dutch thriller The Memory of a Killer. Martin Campbell directs and he’s made some pretty solid action fare like Casino Royale and Jackie Chan’s superb The Foreigner so the movie has that going for it as well.

The first look footage has Neeson looking like he’s taking down faceless goons like they’re free. I might have been premature when I said he should retire from the physical stuff so I’ll be waiting for this one very patiently to see if I was indeed wrong in my initial assessment.

The trailer does look decent and action packed but so did Blacklight so I’m going in with reserved optimism.

Memory hits theaters on April 29th.
