One way to make me get somewhat excited about a Bruce Willis DTV film is to put Frank Grillo in it. Yeah, I know there’s Cosmic Sin that starred both actors but at least this newest one is not a clunky sci-fi mess but otherwise a more grounded modern day shoot ‘em up. The film is called A Day to Die and we have the new trailer for the bullet riddled thriller that also stars Kevin Dillon in the lead. Watch the magic unfold below.
Willis goes rogue again as a corrupt police chief while Dillon is up against a rock and a hard place so he gets Grillo and some ex-military comrades to help him out when his wife is kidnapped. Bullets and bodies will fly and hopefully the film will be as good as this trailer actually looks.
I’m digging the whole anti-hero vibe with Grillo and he looks like his ball busting self here so sign me up. He’s always been a favorite of mine, and is solid regardless of the film he’s in and elevates the material so I’ll check this one out for sure. Plus you can’t go wrong with a Heat inspired street shootout for a finale too so Yippee Ki-Yay my brothers.
I’ve lost track of these Willis assembly line films but it is enjoyable to see how many he can crank out in a year and this one probably has limited screen time for the star per usual. How many of his movies now have the word die in them? Anyway, I’ve heard stories about him behind the scenes so I’ll definitely look at his movies in a different light.
The pic was helmed by Wes Miller from a script penned by Rab Berry and Scott Mallace. Also starring are Leon, Brooke Butler, Gianni Capaldi, and Vernon Davis.
A Day to Die hits March 4 in select theaters, Digital and VOD from Vertical Entertainment.
