File this one under unexpected but it appears that Warner Bros. is looking to reboot Under Siege which is considered to be one of Steven Seagal’s best action offerings. To make things even more interesting, it appears that Timo Tjahjanto, who brought us the brutally unapologetic action film The Night Comes for Us, is set to helm the movie.
The report comes from Deadline who is saying that Tjahjanto developed the pitch along with Umair Aleem and the two brought it to Warner Bros. who will in turn develop the film for HBOMAX.
There is no word if Seagal will reprise his role of ex-Navy SEAL turned cook Casey Ryback but I have a distinct feeling that he won’t. After all, if it is a reboot then I’m sure the studio will go in a much different and younger direction.
Tjahjanto is also in line to helm another remake which is an English language version of the hit Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan. Aleem is best known for penning the hit Netflix assassin thriller Kate which starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Normally reboots or remakes are frowned upon among genre fans but I, for one, am intrigued to see what Tjahjanto delivers with it. After all, the man has brought us some truly brutally beautiful epics including Headshot with Iko Uwais and the aforementioned The Night Comes for Us which also featured Uwais and an equally bad ass Joe Taslim. Here’s hoping this version of the classic Seagal actioner is just as bone crunching.
There is no other info to deliver at this time so stay tuned and keep it locked and loaded right here for more to develop as we are your destination for everything action.
