BATGIRL: Brendan Fraser Enlists for Villain Duties in HBOMAX’s Live Action DCEU Film

By: John M Jerva

The Brendan Fraser Hollywood resurgence continues as the Mummy franchise actor is set to play the main villain in the upcoming HBOMAX live action Batgirl film. The DCEU project, which will premiere exclusively on the Warner Bros. streaming service will star Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl.

Per Deadline: The film will bow on HBO Max, marking one of the first major DC properties to debut exclusively on the streamer. Christina Hodson penned the script with Kristin Burr producing.

While plot details are under wraps, it is known that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, will be the character behind the cape in this version. Gordon is the most established version of the Batgirl character and was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.

Fraser’s casting comes on the heels of Bad Boys for Life and Expendables 4 star Jacob Scipio also getting a role in the film. Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will helm the movie that is the first of a slew of exclusive DC original movies that will hit HBOMAX along with Warner Bros. other theatrical releases.

The other big news is that Arbi and Fallah have also announced that Batman will make an appearance in the movie. Which Batman we get will remain to be seen but fans will surely have their own wishlists when it comes to that.

The directing duo was rather tight lipped on that subject so we could get on older version like Ben Affleck or Michael Keaton or done one new all together.

There is no word on who Fraser will be playing either. Rumors are swirling that it could be Firefly who is a lesser known villain in the DC universe. It’s just speculation at this point so only time will tell.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more as we are your destination for everything action!
