Yesterday, I was busy working on my Scott Adkins June posts so I’m a little late in reporting that Hiroyuki Sanada of Mortal Kombat and Army of the Dead has officially enlisted for the fourth chapter of the John Wick franchise.
Deadline brought the word and it’s been a couple years now when it was rumored that Sanada would be involved in the project and yesterday, it became a reality.
Per Deadline: The Chad Stahelski-directed fourthquel is set for theatrical release on May 27, 2022. Shay Hatten and Michael Finch wrote the screenplay. Pic is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Stahelski and executive produced by Reeves and Louise Rosner.
Director Chad Stahelski, who has helmed every entry, made an official statement about Sanada joining the cast that includes Keanu Reeves, of course, as well as new additions Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama and Shamier Anderson.
“Having long admired Hiroyuki as both actor and action performer, I’m thrilled and honored to welcome him to the John Wick family,” Stahelski said.
Donnie Yen was definitely a major announcement last week and with Sanada it confirms that Mr. Wick will be visiting Asia this time around. Details on the plot are secret as of now do we wait to see what will happen on that front.
Fans definitely have much to be excited about as Yen and Sanada Will most assuredly serve up some John Wick style combat.
