It’s time to add Mary Elizabeth Winstead to the list of actors and actresses feeling the John Wick groove as Netflix has dished out a few rapid Fire teases for their upcoming hard core actioner. Winstead is about to leave her mark as Kate and when the dust settles, the bodies will be good and plenty.
It’s important to say that these teasers serve up almost next to nothing but it’s something to set our collective pallets while we wait for more. Check them out below!
Winstead describes the assassin themed story as follows:
“Kate is a ruthless assassin who is on a job in Tokyo, and she gets poisoned. She finds out she has 24 hours to live before the poison kills her, she sets out on a mission to find out who poisoned her and kill them before she dies. Along the way, she forges this bond with this teenage girl named Ani (Miku Martineau), and they end up taking on this mission together. It’s a heartfelt, brutal, assassin story!”
Like I said in the past, Ethan Hawke recently served up a film with the same sounding storyline and that one was enjoyable on all fronts so it’ll be interesting to see how Winstead does with the action set pieces created by 87Eleven team and with David Leitch and Kelly McCormick producing through their 87North production banner, it’ll definitely have the Wick vibe to it…not that that’s a bad thing.
Winstead stars along with Woody Harrelson who portrays Kate’s handler as well as Tadanobu Asano, Michiel Huisman, and Jun Kunimura and Huntsman: Winter’s War helmer Cedric Nicolas-Troyan directs from a script penned by Umair Aleem.
Netflix has officially unveiled a September 10th launch for Kate do unfortunately we have a wait still but hopefully an extended trailer will hit sooner rather than later.
