As I write this article, I’m sitting on a beach in Mrytle Beach and life is good but it just got better as I just found out that SEAL Team is set to return for a fifth season…but with a catch.

Deadline is reporting that the CBS Studios show which follows David Boreanaz who leads an elite Naval Warfare unit is going to return but after the first four episodes air on regular CBS affiliates, it will then move to Paramount Plus for the rest of the season.

Per Deadline: The deals are still being finalized but I hear the David Boreanaz-starring military drama, which is wrapping its fourth season, will kick off its fifth season on CBS next fall and air its first several episodes — likely four — on the broadcast network before migrating to Paramount+. Freshman Clarice‘s second season will stream exclusively on Paramount+. Reps for the streamer and CBS Studios, which produces both series, declined comment.

The reasoning for the streaming switch is for CBS to have more room for newer shows on the regular docket. Many stations are trending this way to utilize their streaming sites and to attract more subscribers. CBS is also moving its Silence of the Lambs based crime drama Clarice to the streaming site as well. That show has been struggling in the ratings but CBS likes it.

As I see it, this will probably be the final season for SEAL Team and CBS wanted it to have five seasons so it could reach 100 episodes so it would be enticing for syndication. This show is one of my favorite military dramas so I’ll take one more season but you never know. The show could last longer as a Paramount Plus exclusive.

SEAL Team follows an elite unit of United States Navy SEALs, Bravo Team, a sub-unit of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group. The cast includes Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., A.J Buckley, and Toni Trucks.
