I think it’s fate that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and I have the same birth year. 1972 to be exact. Unfortunately we don’t share the same day but I’ll take what I can get. Today The Brahma Bull turns 49 and if he can look like he does one year shy of 50 then there’s no excuse for me not to stay in shape.
There’s also no denying that Rock is one of the most famous celebrities in the world today and his success story is a true rags to riches story as the story behind his Seven Bucks production banner can attest to. He had nothing but 7 bucks in his pocket when he decided to make his dreams come true and he went on to become a wrestling legend and Hollywood icon.
This is a special day and one that has given me the opportunity to shake the rust of The Action Fix that has been dormant for a little bit. In celebration of Johnson’s day, here is a special Fix for all you fans out there.
But there are so many fight seat to choose from and The Rock has certainly brought it when it comes to action over the years. So which one did I choose?
Well, for me it was a no brainer as his turn as Lucas Hobbs in the Fast and Furious films is clearly one of his most famous and popular. Add in The Stath for this one to help celebrate and you get an added bonus as this week’s Action Fix comes courtesy of The Fate of the Furious.
The scene in question is the brutally choreographed and rousing prison riot scene where Johnson and Statham carve their way through a gauntlet of inmates and prison guards as they essentially throw everyone around like their rag dolls. I know these films take a beating from some people, but I’ve stated in the past that I enjoy the helm out of them and Johnson and Statham make a great action duo. They’re chemistry in this film was so spot on that it gave birth to their own spin-off movie Hobbs and Shaw.
So with that, I’m gonna shut up now and let the bone breaking clip talk for itself.
Happy Birthday Rock. Eat 25 large pizzas 🍕 for me!
Added Bonus: Since I’m such a fan of Mr. Johnson, I couldn’t just leave you with one clip so by all means, check out the equally smashing sequence from one of his under appreciated films Walking Tall where he lays the smack down utilizing good old practical stunts and fight choreography!
