On the heels of the new images that arrived yesterday, Amazon Studios has unveiled the first look teaser trailer for the ambitious sci-fi action pic The Tomorrow War. The MCU’s Chris Pratt is fighting a different kind of war as aliens threaten our world as we know it. Sample the intense, CGI fight fest with the new footage above!

In The Tomorrow War, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrives from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, humanity is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is a high school teacher and family man Dan Forester. Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist and his estranged father in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

Starring alongside Pratt is an ensemble cast including Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as well as Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), Betty Gilpin (GLOW). Also featured are Sam Richardson, Theo Von, Jasmine Matthews, Keith Powers, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Edwin Hodge, Mike Mitchell, Seychelle Gabriel (Falling Skies), Alan Trong (Alita: Battle Angel), newcomer Chibuikem Uche and Alexis Louder (Harriet).

The trailer definitely delivers the intrigue coupled with ferocious sci-fi combat action and Pratt has really stepped it up in the action department with his role as Star-Lord in the MCU films as well as the Jurassic World franchise. I love when genres get mashed up so I’m really looking forward to this one.

Helmed by Chris McKay, Skydance funded the project and Paramount was going to release it in December of 2020 but delayed it until July 23rd of this year. The pandemic changed all that and Amazon swooped in for the win and the movie will now see a July 2nd launch for the 4th of July weekend.
