Pressed for time! Check out our Rapid Fire Review for the new sci-fi action pic Breach starring Bruce Willis and Thomas Jane! It’s everything you need to know about the movie in less time!

What’s It About:
Fleeing a devastating plague on Earth, an interstellar ark comes under attack from a new threat; a shape-shifting alien force intent on slaughtering what is left of humanity.
THE GOOD: Yes Bruce Willis stars in yet another direct to video action flick but instead of just showing up for 20 minutes, Willis actually is in the film for the duration and even resonates a little of that old John McClane magic with a few choice one liners like “who wants barbecue?” Willis even gets to throw down with some flame thrower action and takes out some alien scum like the Bruce of old.

Throw in Thomas Jane who resonates his usual aura of gravitas and Rachel Nichols (GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra) who gets to be a little bad ass herself and this is a great cast for a little DTV action flick. Jane is only it in for a bit but he always makes a presence and every time I see him in these kinds of roles, it makes me long for his Punisher days. Plus can I say just how awesome it is that his character puts on shades even though he’s on a dark, dank spaceship. That’s just cool in my opinion.
It’s short at just over 90 minutes and it moves with a lot action snd a few gory moments for genre fans. It also has a retro feel to these types of alien invasion flicks that flooded the market in the 80’s and 90’s so expect a lot of dumb fun to be had.
WHAT’S NOT SO GOOD: The plot is nothing original and it has been done much better before. After watching SKYLIN3S first which also came out this weekend, this sci-fi flick pales in comparison with its special effects and action. Also, I normally don’t mind CGI gunfire but this was really heinous and it took me out of some of the action.

While Willis and Jane are in the film, Cody Kearsley is the main star and while he does an admirable job, he just doesn’t have the action gusto like our grizzled veterans in the film. It should have been Willis and Jane’s show but at least they got to do something action oriented. Johnny Messner (Silencer), who is also another great action guy, is wasted in a small role as well as one of the crew mates that becomes infected.
The ending was God awful and I’m not sure if they were setting up for a follow up but it was dreadful and ridiculous on every level and sunk what was a rather enjoyable and fun genre movie. I’m always game for a bleak ending if done correctly but this one resonated stink on every level.
OVERALL: Breach is dumb sci-fi action entertainment and it was great to see Bruce Willis show up and do some of his old action routine once again. Thomas Jane is always great to watch but he is wasted in a small cameo role snd I just wanted more. If you’re going to watch a kick ass sci-fi Actioner this week, watch the Skyline franchise and most importantly the second and third as they are sci-fi done right.
VERDICT: 2 Out Of 5 Stars
Watch it for Bruce Willis and Thomas Jane and see them capture a little of that old action magic. If not then move along.
Breach is now playing in select theaters and VOD from Saban Entertainment!
