We have some Jason Statham news for everyone this Friday morning as Deadline is reporting that the action Star had officially entered negotiations to Star in a new mob thriller titled Small Dark Look for Focus Features. The film which was originally named Body Cross was at one time meant to be a sequel to the classic thriller Eastern Promises which starred Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts.
That original film was helmed by David Cronenberg but it appears that the project has taken on new life with Martin Zandvliet (Land of Mine) signing on as director as he replaces William Oldroyd who was attached at one time.
The plot is being kept under wraps but it is being described as a thriller that will focus on the Russian Mafia in London. Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things), who is an Oscar winning writer, penned the script.
Statham’s very next film he will be seen in reunited him with director Guy Ritchie for the action-thriller Wrath of Men which had him starring alongside Scott Eastwood and Josh Hartnett. Statham is also rumored to take over the Expendables franchise in the fourth installment with Stallone taking on a lesser involvement but that project had been kicking around for years and there’s no telling when and if it will happen.
