Anthony Mackie is staying very busy as of late with filming the Disney+ Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and now we have confirmation that Mackie, who starred in the second season of Netflix’s Altered Carbon, is returning to the streaming service giant to produce and star in a new action-thriller titled The OGUN.

THR brings the word and the movie “centers on a man named Xavier Rhodes who brings his teenage daughter to Nigeria to find a cure for the rare genetic condition that he passed on to her. When his daughter is kidnapped, Rhodes goes on a rampage through the criminal underworld to find her before it’s too late, testing his powerful abilities to the limit. The project has been described as being tonally in the vein of John Wick crossed with Dante’s Inferno.”
Anything in the vein of John Wick is a strong selling point right now and I’m in all the way as the synopsis sounds overly violent and destructive. Stunt pro turned writer Madison Turner (The Dark Knight Rises) is writing the script for The Ogun which sees Mandalay Pictures’ Jason Michael Berman also producing.
