After finally hitting domestic theaters last month after a delay, Jacki Chan’s newest action hit Vanguard is poised and ready to make its debut on this side of the ocean.
Word comes from The Wrap that Gravitas Ventures has picked up the film for its North American release and its set to launch on November 20th and will release wide in theaters in both the U.S. and Canada and will also hit drive-ins and IMAX theaters. The 20th was the same day that No Time to Die was supposed to hit so Jackie is filling in just nicely.
In a statement, Gravitas Ventures senior manager in theatrical distribution Cameron Moore said “Upon my first viewing of ‘Vanguard,’ I instantly became attracted to its big, fun, escapism that reminded me of those globe-trotting action adventures we are all so familiar with. The scope of this film is phenomenal, and the fact that it was filmed on location over land, air, and sea makes it a must-watch entertainment on the biggest screen possible. ‘Vanguard’ is a film that fills a fall action adventure vacancy, with the legendary screen icon Jackie Chan at the forefront. I can’t wait for North American audiences to see this film,”
Stanley Tong, who directed the film reuniting himself with Chan also stated “Each time I work with Jackie, we are always trying to impress our audience with the best picture and idea. Especially this time, we put a lot of innovation in it. I hope the North American audiences enjoy it. And, I’m so happy to be partnering with Gravitas for the release,” Tong and Jackie have worked a whopping nine time together thus far.
Vanguard also features a young action cast including Yang Yang, Ai Lun, Mu Qimiya, Xu Ruohan and Zhu Zhengting.
The film is about an accountant who turns to a cover security company named Vanguard after he is targeted by the world’s deadliest mercenary organization.
While we wait for November 20th to hit, and I might just be able to go to a cinema this year if it opens near me, check out the recent trailer and an exclusive clip from the movie below courtesy of The Arty Dans over at Asian Film Fans!
