By: John M Jerva

Last May, the MMA flick CAGEFIGHTER had a special PPV premiere in the UK and now we have word that the movie which stars a host of hard hitting talent is about to hit the US when it premieres in Select Cinemas, Digital and VOD.

The film features a great and hard hitting cast which includes MMA and UFC hall of famer Chuck Liddell as well as Jason Reso who is also known as WWE superstar and two-time world champion Christian. AEW resident bad ass John Moxley also stars along with MMA pro Alex Montagnani, Strikeforce champ Luke Rockhold and veteran actress Gina Gershon.

Official Synopsis: Reiss Gibbons (actor and BAMMA MMA fighter Alex Montagnani) is on the cusp of cementing himself as the greatest to ever step inside the LEGENDS cage. With five title defenses under his belt, a beautiful wife (Georgia Bradner), endless deals from his agent (Elijah Baker), and the support of his coach and mentor (UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell), Reiss has it all.

But when a savvy promoter (Gina Gershon) pits him against pro wrestling superstar, Randy Stone (AEW Champion, Jon Moxley) in the company’s first ever cross-promotional event, Reiss finds himself in the toughest fight of his life. Adding to the drama are a charismatic MMA podcaster ( WWE’s Jay “Christian” Reso) and a flashy MMA coach (former UFC champ Luke Rockhold).

Helmed by Jesse Quinones who also penned the script, the rest of the cast includes Brenna Coates, Georgia Bradner, Elijah Baker, Lowell Dean, Rigan Machado, Kwame Augustine, Andrew Valdez, Rupert Charmak, Jodie Riley, Ryland Alexander, Jordan Fiacco, Natalya Tsvetkova, Du’aine A. Samuels, Rob Hornsberger, Nathan Montgomery, Brad Pickett, Robb Rennebohm, Charles Scowsill, Logan Mainil, Devon Oman, Genevieve Fothergill, Adam Schaffer, and Mark Claxton. Quinones has directed two documentaries on the cagefighting subject as well as the film Calloused Hands so he knows a thing or two on the subject.

Screen Media acquired the movie a while back for its North American debut and now an October 9th date is set for a select cinema and VOD release. Check out the bruising action in the new trailer below as worlds are about to collide!
