Charlize Theron is poised and ready to unleash The Old Guard on Netflix this week but before we watch the star kick ass as an immortal warrior leading an elite team of immortal warriors, we have some updates on a possible sequel to Atomic Blonde.
In a new interview while promoting the new action flick, Theron talked about the potential sequel and confirmed that it’s in the works. Although it’s in the early stages, the sequel is very much alive.

“Yes, we’re in the development stages right now, and that’s the one thing that lockdown has been good for — being able to develop with writers over Zoom. So, we’re actively developing [an Atomic Blondesequel] right now.”
With the news that an Atomic Blonde sequel is in deed in development, Theron also expressed that she would be totally down with teaming up with Mr. John Wick. Many have appointed Theron’s character in the David Leitch helmed thriller as the female version of Wick so it was only a matter of time until the idea of a crossover came about.
“Listen, as soon as I get the call, I’ll be there. They just have to tell me where, when and I’ll show up. Keanu is one of my most favorite people in the whole wide world; I absolutely love him. I respect him, I admire him and I am so grateful that I got to make two movies with him. We both kind of find ourselves in this new stage of our career, and so much of Atomic Blonde was influenced by John Wick. So, if we can get those two characters to meet up in a timeline that makes sense, I’m all about it.”
Now, of course, there are no plans for the two elite killers to team up in a feature but I’m not the only one here who thinks that this idea would be worth its weight in gold. If done right, and helmed by Leitch or Chad Stahelski or both and I believe it would be an action epic in the making.
Theron has worked with Keanu Reeves twice now on The Devil’s Advocate and Sweet November so the two are familiar with each other and have history. They definitely have great on screen chemistry so a potential crossover would be nothing short of fantastic. Hollywood, are you listen?
