CROSSFIRE: Sony Pictures Developing an Adaptation of the Best Selling High-Octane First Person Shooter Game

Sony Pictures is teaming up with South Korean game developer Smilegate to bring a live action adaptation of the military first person shooter game called Crossfire.

Variety brought the exclusive word today and stated that Fast And Furious producer Neil Moritz is producing from a script written by Chuck Hogan. Tencent Pictures will co-produce and co-finance the high-octane action film which is based on the game about two mercenary corporations called the Black List and the Global Risk who at war with each other. Moritz will produce via his Original Film Banner.

The game first dropped in 2007 in North Korea by Smilegate and then made its debut in China in 2008 followed by North America in 2009. The game has earned a staggering $12 billion in sales since its first was released.

There is no casting news as of yet but the film is in the early stages of development so expect more details to unload in the future.
