More news from the Mortal Kombat casting table as The Hollywood Reporter is announcing that New Line has added two more iconic characters to the roster as Sonya Blade and Kano are officially added to the highly anticipated reboot.
According to the site, Jessica McNamee, who was just recently seen in The Meg with Statham, is in final negotiations to play Sonya and Josh Lawson from House Of Lies has definitely been cast as the evil Kano. The trade is also stating that Lewis Tan Of Netflix’s Wu ASSASSINS is in talks for an undisclosed role as well.

Aside from Joe Taslim, who was selected for Sub-Zero, and Ludi Lin, who is Liu Kang, the casting is leaning heavily towards actors who aren’t known for any martial arts prowess so I’m assuming that some die hard fans are starting to get a little angsty. I know this because I’ve heard it from many of my followers. Only time will tell who else will be added but I never make snap judgements. I always wait to see how it looks before I cry foul.
Supergirl’s Mechad Brooks was recently cast as Special Forces Operative Jackson “Jax” Briggs while Tadanobu Asano (Ichi The Killer) has been added as Lord Raiden And newcomer Sisi Stringer will play Mileena.
Simon McQuoid will helm in his feature film debut from a script penned by Greg Russo with James Wan producing.
The film will commence filming in Australia later this year with a release date set for March 5th, 2021. Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come. Fight!!!
