Well it didn’t make as much money on opening weekend like the first film but Godzilla: King Of The Monsters still roared to a first place finish over the weekend.

The sequel to 2014’s GODZILLA debuted here in the US with an estimated $49 million which was way shy of the original’s $93 million but it did make an additional $130 million worldwide for a three day take of $179 million. It also fell short of Kong: Skull Islands debut of $61 million back in 2017 but it still should make enough worldwide to reap some sort of profit.

Directed by Michael Dougherty, the film stars Millie Brown, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler and O’Shea Jackson, Jr.

Disney’s ALADDIN came in 2nd place with $42.3 million in its second weekend in release and has garnered $185 million in ten days.

The next film in Warner Bros. Monster Universe is Godzilla VS KONG which opens up next year so get ready for another monster smack down of biblical proportions in 2020.
