Here’s another underrated action star and he makes his own damn movies too. Ever since I saw Tony Schiena upstage JCVD in Wake Of Death, I was a fan. Schiena has done some other projects through since then like The Number One Girl and most recently Netflix’s Darc but he has never earned the respect that he should. The man is just plain bad ass in his movies and real life bad ass as well as he’s done it all when it comes to being an undefeated Karate champion and is a former intelligence operative that’s and CEO of one of the worlds leading crisis management companies. So, yeah, he’s the real deal.

Well, Schiena is back and in his most hard edged action role to date in the film fittingly titled The Weapon. Schiena also directs and stars along with a great cast that includes Sean Patrick Flanery, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Bruce Dern. Hey, is that Booker AKA Richard Grieco?! Nice! Not too shabby.

Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), and Jack Kesy (12 Strong) highlight this bone-crunching action thriller. Tony Schiena is Dallas, a one-man killing machine on a mysterious rampage. His attacks on biker gangs and meth labs anger the Vegas mob boss who’s holding Dallas’ girlfriend hostage. But who is Dallas working for? Even torture won’t make him talk, and he won’t stop until justice is served. Also stars Academy Award nominee Bruce Dern and Annalynn McCord.

There’s no shortage of sustained violence and well choreographed carnage to be had and Schiena has been activated and looks capable as always in the role as he pummels bad guys into blood soaked submission. Looks extremely satisfying and off the charts. I’ll be watching for sure!
