Fans here in North America have been able to enjoy director Matt Routledge’s intense action-horror pic Tribal: Get Out Alive for a few weeks now but audiences have had a little bit of a longer wait in the UK to sample the bloody martial arts infused thriller which stars Zara Phythian and Ross O’Hennesy. That wait is almost over as the film is set to debut with a special virtual premiere tomorrow August 10th ahead of its August 17th launch on all the major Digital Platforms courtesy of genre specialist Evolutionary Films.
I have promoted the film rather extensively since it was announced a while ago and I’m proud to help support indie actioners like this one and the UK has really been stepping up when it comes to adrenaline laced films such as this one and I Am Vengeance Retaliation. It’s great to see the film receive numerous nominations for awards at numerous film fests as it is richly deserved. Check out the official press release below along with some new images to tide you over until the big day!
The action-packed horror feature TRIBAL GET OUT ALIVE starring Zara Phythian (Doctor Strange) and Ross O’Hennessy (Game Of Thrones) will be released in the UK on 17th August on all major digital platforms by genre specialists Evolutionary Films.
Written by Johnny Walker and directed by award-winning director Matt Routledge, TRIBAL GET OUT ALIVE delivers hard-hitting martial arts action combined with gruesome horror elements to create an adrenalin fuelled adventure that has been highly anticipated by genre fans around the world.
Synopsis: Elite military operative Caitlin Ross retires from service after suffering from PTSD. Along with former team member and close friend Brad Johnson, they opted for the ‘easy life’ and now lead a small security firm. The company are hired by young, troublesome millionaire Richard Kenning to clear and secure the land and property he has recently inherited. Rumours and stories surrounding the land and buildings are dismissed until people start disappearing and the team end up locked in with no escape. It soon becomes apparent they are being hunted and the race is on to get out alive.
Rising action star Zara Phythian showcases her real martial arts credentials in the lead role of Caitlin. Tribal has been getting rave reviews and had been nominated for numerous awards via the film festival circuit and the movie will be part of the Iron Dragon TV Action Fest which runs from August 15th till the 22nd. Hit up more info on that event here http://www.idtvactionfest.com/.
I have had the pleasure of seeing the film finally after years of promoting it and my review will be up in a day or two but I will say as a sneak peek that it is a brutal and unforgiving mashup of action, horror and bone crunching martial arts action and is definitely a great vehicle to introduce fans to the next action star in Zara Phythian who is amazing in the film. Phythian is this generation’s newest female bad ass and gels perfectly with co-star Ross O’Hennessy who delivers his fair share of brutality as well.
The trailer has been online for a few weeks now so take a peek below at the action and scares that awaits as this one is truly a force to be reckoned with in the genre.
